Isn’t it sad when you go back and look at photos of ex-couples? They smile, and you can tell that they were smiling because they were happy to be next to each other rather than forced to by the convention of smiling in photographs.
And you bring yourself back to the present. The couples are no longer couples. The smiles are more taut. Taught.
And I feel sad for them. I feel sad for my friend Tom because he has to see those photos and remember that he isn’t that happy anymore.
